Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Fes – Ifran – Midelt – Merzouga ( 8 H Drive )

Pick up from your Fes hotel or riad as early as possible (generally, 7 am in winter and 8 am in summer). This is so that there is enough driving time to catch the sunset in Erg Chebbi. We'll depart on a journey through the Saiss plains, making our way up towards the Cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains. As we pass through the towns of Ifran and Azrou, we'll have the chance to admire the local Barbary apes roaming around the sides of the road. Once we reach Midelt, we'll break for lunch and continue on our journey. In Midelt town, we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will cross the Ziz River and drive past beautiful palm plantations and amazing historic kasbahs to Erfoud, then continue on to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. Meeting up with your camel caravan, you will enjoy a camel ride across the dunes and enjoy the shifting colors of the sands under the setting sun. Riding back to your desert camp, you will have a little time to freshen up, then enjoy dinner and some traditional drum entertainment under the stars before spending a tranquil night in your tent.

Day 2 : Merzouga – Toudra Gorges – Dades ( 4 H Drive )

You will enjoy an early morning camel ride before meeting up with your guide/ driver in Merzouga. First, you will be driven to the spectacular oasis of Tinghir, where you can enjoy a walk along the Toudra River to the breathtaking Toudra Gorges, learning a little more about local life along the way, and then enjoy lunch once you get there. In the afternoon, you will be driven along the 1001 Kasbah road to reach the Dades Valley. There, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the fortified kasbahs. We'll then make our way to the boutique guest house in the Dades Valley, where you will have dinner and then spend the night.

Day 3 : Dades – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech ( 7 H Drive )

After you have had breakfast, we'll drive along the Valley of the Roses to Kalaa Mgouna. This valley is famous for its roses and rose water production. In Kalaa Mgouna, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the rose water co-operatives to learn more about this local industry, and how rose-scented perfumes are made. Next, the route will take you past Skoura oasis, which is famous for its date palm trees, then on to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou kasbah. There, you will have some lunch before taking a look around. You may recognize this well-preserved historic site from a range of Hollywood movies. In the afternoon, you will finally make your way towards Marrakech, making your way through the Atlas mountains on the Tizi Ntichka Pass. Along the way, you will see traditional Berber villages with their homes of stone and mud, and see that life has, in some ways, changed very little here in hundreds of years. Finally, we will continue to Marrakech, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or riad to conclude your tour.
